G&D announces MobiCore® integrated security platform to support Samsung GALAXY S III in Europe
Munich, May 4, 2012 – Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) today announced that its MobiCore security platform will be integrated in Samsung GALAXY S III smartphones distributed in Europe. Thanks to MobiCore, the NFC-capable smartphone from Samsung will be the first mobile device to boast a protected area on its application processor in which security-sensitive applications can be securely run and downloaded dynamically. The MobiCore platform will provide a secure execution environment for mobile payments authentication, emails or corporate VPN access.

New Exhibition “Images of Women” Opens at Giesecke & Devrient's Banknote Museum
Munich, April 26, 2012 – The Munich-based technology group and banknote specialist Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is devoting its latest exhibition to exceptional and prominent women. The slogan of the exhibition, which unites 172 exhibits from 76 countries in the company's in-house museum, is “Images of Women – Women on Banknotes.” Yesterday evening, G&D owner Verena von Mitschke-Collande opened the exhibition for a preview audience. The exhibition will open its doors to the public on May 2. Admission is free, but visitors do need to register in advance.

G&D Becomes First Manufacturer to Gain ITI Certification for New eID Cards in Brazil
Munich/Rio de Janeiro, April 18, 2012 – GD Burti, the Brazilian subsidiary of international technology group Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), is the first and thus far only manufacturer of national security documents to meet the security requirements for the new Brazilian eID cards. The high-security RIC (Registry of Civil Identity) cards have been granted certification by Instituto Nacional de Tecnologia da Informação, Brazil's foremost IT authority. GD Burti has already delivered more than one million RIC cards as part of an initial pilot project. RIC cards store biometric data and will make it easier for Brazilian nationals to visit other Mercosur treaty states.
