Munich, February 22, 2012 – Leading technology group Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is supplying NFC-capable SIM cards to Nòverca, an MVNO, for Italy’s very first pilot project for mobile payments launched by Banca Intesa Sanpaolo. Six hundred employees and customers of Banca Intesa Sanpaolo can now use their mobile phones to make contactless payments in the northern Italian cities of Milan and Turin at more than 3,000 POS (point of sale) terminals provided by Setefi, the payment institution of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, for example in supermarkets and cafés.

Munich, February 13, 2012 – Australia’s largest bank, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, is adding multiple mobile phone-based payment options to its range of mobile banking services. Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) is providing the technology to allow secure contactless payments using mobile phones featuring Near Field Communication (NFC). The most important of the components to be provided is G&D’s turnkey Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution. In its role as Trusted Service Manager, the technology provider will be taking responsibility via the mobile network for services including the personalization of the payment function as well as management of the payment application over its entire lifecycle.

Munich, January 26, 2012 – With the BPS C1, Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) has added a further robust, high-performance machine to its range of desktop systems. This two-stacker machine, featuring a sorting tray and a reject compartment, boasts a counting speed of up to 1,500 banknotes per minute – the fastest in its category. It is highly flexible and offers utmost precision for banknote processing applications. The system is able to process up to 10 different currencies. Two people can use the same BPS C1 machine in parallel, making an investment in the system even more cost-effective. Its front-facing controls and opening mechanism simplify the operator’s work and significantly reduce the machine’s footprint.

In this position, he will be responsible for the Product Management, Marketing, and Sales units of the technology company based in Tegernsee/Germany, a subsidiary of Giesecke & Devrient (G&D). This appointment sees Seidemann taking over from Michael Böhm, who retired at the end of 2011, but who will still be active for the company in a consultative capacity.

Madrid/Munich, 14th November 2011 - Telefónica and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) developed and successfully proved a secure, pre-standard solution for remotely managing M2M SIMs subscription data based on the principles of the embedded SIM. A live test has proven the secure transfer of a subscription from Telefónica Spain to a Telefónica UK one over the air. With this type of remote subscription management, device makers can manufacture devices with M2M SIMs on a cost optimised production setup, while mobile network operators (MNOs) can customize their M2M connectivity offerings for this specific target market.
