More than 160 years of experience with security technologies form the basis for addressing one of the key challenges we face now and in the future: security. In today’s world with a global population of billions, the need for security is on the rise in many areas. This demands new technologies and methods.
G+D Currency Technology is working on innovations which make the whole cash cycle more efficient and secure. We mainly achieve this through software and automated solutions which make use of the innovative functions in G+D banknote processing systems. The business unit has also been looking very closely at big data solutions for the cash cycle, which are based on networking the products used – in the full interest of Industry 4.0. Global research activity at G+D Mobile Security focuses on the protection and management of digital identities in electronic payments, telecommunications, the Internet of Things, and Industry 4.0. New networked device classes and communication technologies demand innovative solutions for protection and management, as well as for analyzing the data from a growing number of end devices. Drawing on our experience in hardware and software-based security and the lifecycle management of identities, Mobile Security is conducting research and development work in these fields.

Veridos and secunet AG
secunet Security Networks AG develops high-end and advanced IT security solutions and products in close collaboration with customers. Research and development at the company is based on three strategic pillars: secunet promotes a culture of innovation in the company and collaborates with customers, universities, and associations. It also pools product managers’ skills that support innovation management, right through to the development of market-ready products. Veridos’ development work is aimed at making ID documents even more secure, e.g. with Fuse®ID Vision, a new personalization feature for ID card windows. With innovative laser engraving and printing which changes color according to the angle from which it is viewed, forgery becomes virtually impossible. Veridos is also working on enhancing the security, efficiency, and compatibility of its system solutions for managing and processing ID documents. The IMAGO system can now also be operated with numerous databases and third-party devices.
Research Initiatives G+D is involved in
In collaboration with five project partners, we are developing updatable security solutions for electronic control units in vehicles and other networked long-life devices.
PROTECT ‘s aim is to build an advanced biometric-based person identification system that works robustly across a range of border crossing types and that has strong user-centric features.
LIGHTest is seeking to create a global trust infrastructure. The objective of this is to enable legitimate identities to be distinguished from forgeries during electronic transactions.
OPTIMOS is a research project aimed at creating an open NFC eco-system for the mobile use of secure identities for mobile services
The research team on this EU project is developing internationally applicable identification systems which are to be freely available. The objective is to make online identification more secure.
This European project is looking at new, practical technology for mobile devices which will be used for national border control.
In conjunction with partners from business and industry, G&D is involved in the SIBASE research project for the protection of embedded systems connected to the Internet. SIBASE analyzes their security requirements and develops suitable concepts for system protection.
This project is aimed at creating a standardized concept for automated border controls in Europe, integrating security, convenience, and speed of processing.
This European project is involved in developing systematic IT security testing methods, and develops technology and programs which protect networked systems and applications.
