G+D Currency Technology, Munich, and Transtrack International, Amsterdam, entered into a definitive agreement today, under which G+D Currency Technology will acquire all shares of Transtrack International. Transtrack International is a market leader in the development of standard software solutions that address the control, efficiency and management of the end-to-end cash supply chain.

The Currency App by G+D Currency Technology won the Central Banking Currency Innovation Award. The award “highlight[s] the outstanding performance and achievements of individuals and organisations within the central banking community”; the jury was particularly impressed by the apps innovative impetus, establishing best practice and helping “ central banks to improve their educational outreach efforts to bolster the vitally important issue of national currency security.” The award ceremony will take place mid-March in London.

Munich and Zurich, January 17, 2019 – Today, Swatch announces a new series of watches in the traditional stylish design that are enabled for convenient contactless payment. This innovative approach combines iconic Swatch design with a mobile payment feature that uses Giesecke+Devrient Mobile Security`s wearable enablement platform and wearable app as well as an embedded secure element to ensure the security of data and payment transactions. Following its successful launch in China in the summer of 2017, the credit card watch is now available in Switzerland as well.

At the High Security Printing Asia in Hanoi, the new 1000 Thai Baht banknote from the 2018 Thai banknote series 17 was awarded the Regional Banknote of the Year Award Asia and the new Hong Kong Series from 2018 the Best New Series Award. Both currencies are equipped with security features by Louisenthal, one of the main criteria for the awards. The awards recognise “outstanding achievements in the design, technical sophistication and security of a banknote or banknote series”. The 1000 Thai Baht banknote was selected for its “outstanding and attractive Level 1 security features which encourage the public to authenticate the note at first sight.” The Hong Kong Series received the award for its “striking design and the dynamic security features which correspond perfectly with each other.”

The series consists of six denominations: 50,000, 20,000, 10,000, 5,000, 2,000, and 1,000 dram and is entirely based on Hybrid substrate.
