2016 was a very good year for Giesecke+Devrient. All business units achieved positive earnings and G+D further strengthened its leading position in many important markets. Overall, G+D slightly exceeded its planned figures, achieving EUR 2.1 billion in Group sales and an EBIT of EUR 125 million.
G+D improves the everyday personal, digital and commercial lives of billions of people.
With around 11,300 employees across 32 countries around the globe, G+D develops, produces, and markets products and solutions for convenient payment, secure communication, and identity management.
What started as securities printing in Leipzig in 1852 has now become a major portfolio for modern mobile life:
Have you made payments using cash, your card or your smartphone yet today?
Whatever method you’ve used, it is highly likely that G&D technology was involved in the process.
Are you excited about your new car, which offers many online functions such as an automatic emergency call? There’s G+D technology inside here too!
Do you rely on secure yet speedy border control when traveling?
Thanks to G+D, modern identity documents and control systems provide effective protection not only at national borders but also, for example, at business premises.
In addition, as our lives quickly become increasingly networked, G+D solutions for cybersecurity enable not only greater convenience but also a high degree of security.
G+D calls this: Creating Confidence.
G+D has reorganized the company in order to improve all these aspects even further. Reporting for the 2016 fiscal year is still provided in the management report and notes corresponding to the previous structure comprising Banknote, Mobile Security and Veridos business units, and secunet.
From 2017, G+D is now structured as a holding company with four subgroups: Currency Technology, Mobile Security, Veridos and secunet.
