Think globally, act responsibly
For Giesecke & Devrient, social responsibility is a fundamental part of day-to-day business.
Our guiding principle, “Creating Confidence,” does not revolve simply around unquestioning trust in our products and solutions. Rather, “Creating Confidence” reflects our conviction of building values by embodying our responsibility.
We thus seek to reconcile the long-term commercial, social, and environmental impacts of our activities. In conversation with our employees and partners, we strive to put into practice the core of our corporate values – trust, quality, sustainability, responsibility, and integrity – for everyone’s benefit.
CSR at G&D
The principles of the UN Global Compact and the commitment we have made to responsible corporate governance provide the framework for our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy.
Climate and environmental protection
Using resources responsibly and protecting the environment and climate are core issues within social responsibility. To those ends, we have formulated a vision with binding goals. Concrete measures will bring us significantly closer to our objective of a sustainable value chain.
We are responsible for around 11,000 employees worldwide. Their dedication and expertise are the foundation of our company’s performance. All our activities therefore revolve around appreciation for our employees, protection of their health, promotion and development of their skills, and a family-oriented human resources policy that values diversity and equal opportunity.
For Giesecke & Devrient, compliance of the company and its employees with the rules is a prerequisite for long-term corporate success. A shared ethos across the Group forms the basis for the confidence of our customers and partners worldwide.
Sustainability in the Supply Chain
In order to integrate responsible and sustainable conduct throughout the value chain, we set equally high requirements for our business partners and suppliers.
Security and society
For us, security is more than a question of technology. In a connected, mobile world, we would like to contribute to taking on the challenges of the digitized society. The subjects of data protection and security, and the protection of identities are especially close to our core business and likewise have a high social significance.
As a family-owned company with over 160 years of tradition, we take our responsibility to wider society very seriously. The not-for-profit Giesecke & Devrient Foundation has been the vehicle for our corporate citizenship activities since 2010.
