30 years ago, Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) delivered the world's first commercial SIM card to a telecommunications company in Finland. At the time, hardly anyone could have imagined the success this smart card would achieve. But growth did not stop there – further innovations are on the horizon and the success story will continue. The foundation HVB Stiftung Geldscheinsammlung now operates under the name Giesecke+Devrient Stiftung Geldscheinsammlung. With more than 300,000 notes, the technology group Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) will be responsible for one of the most important banknote collections in the world.  

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has declared Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) as one of the three winners of the Global Central Bank Digital Currency Challenge (Global CBDC Challenge). The judges awarded G+D´s solution Filia for being a means of payment that can be universally used and is truly inclusive enabling participation in the digital economy even without a smartphone or a bank account. This is the second year in a row G+D has won awards from Juniper Research’s Future Digital Awards in two categories, emphasizing the company's leading role in the market for digital payment solutions.

According to World Bank estimates, around one billion people do not yet own a legal identity. However, this is absolutely essential for the protection of fundamental rights and the participation in social life. The People's Republic of Bangladesh is announcing the enrollment and issuance service for the new forgery-proof ePassport in all its foreign missions worldwide.
