Binding Corporate Rules (BCR)
Binding Corporate Rules, usually abbreviated to BCR, are a regulatory framework developed by the European Commission for binding internal rules on the transfer of personal data within a group of companies to countries outside the EU/EEA.
BCRs must contain, in accordance with the GDPR, all general data protection principles and enforceable rights to ensure adequate guarantees for data transfers and be officially approved by the respective European supervisory authorities in an offical procedure.
They allow multinational corporations to transfer personal data to third countries outside the EU/EEA and thus represent a significant facilitation of intra-group data transfers.
