16/10/2019 Munich Giesecke+Devrient

Veridos GmbH, the joint venture of the Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) security group and the Bundesdruckerei (German federal printing office), has appointed a new CEO. On November 1, Andreas Räschmeier will succeed Hans-Wolfgang Kunz, who is due to retire.

Andreas Räschmeier, 52, has previously worked at the G+D group parent, where he held numerous senior and management positions. Most recently, he served as Global Vice President of G+D's Currency Technology group company. The graduate business engineer is bringing extensive expertise in security solutions to his new responsibilities at Veridos, a project partner in ID cards and identification projects worldwide.

The previous CEO, Hans-Wolfgang Kunz, is leaving the company at the age of 65 for retirement. He was at the helm of the joint venture of G+D and the Bundesdruckerei since its inception in 2015. Under his leadership, the company has become the world’s leading supplier of integrated identity solutions. Governments and public authorities in more than 100 countries rely on the company's product portfolio and project expertise. Before that, Kunz, a longtime member of the G+D Management Board, developed the banknote processing and inspection systems segment. Under his leadership, this segment became a global market leader.

"We thank Hans-Wolfgang Kunz for his loyalty and exceptional, outstanding work. He not only contributed decisively to Veridos' success in the company's founding years, but also provided important impetus for the further development and growth of the G+D Group over four decades," emphasized Group CEO Ralf Wintergerst. "With Andreas Räschmeier, we welcome an able successor from within our own ranks, who will continue the Veridos success story."
“There is considerable demand the world over for ID solutions ‘made in Germany’, especially for large-scale government projects, and this is largely due to the efforts of Veridos and, in particular, Hans-Wolfgang Kunz. We would like to thank him for his successful work and we are certain that his successor, Andreas Räschmeier, will continue in this tradition,” says Stefan Hofschen, CEO of Bundesdruckerei.

"I'm greatly honored by the trust that G+D and the Bundesdruckerei are placing in me and am excited about my new and challenging responsibilities," stated Räschmeier. "My principal aim in times of rapid growth is to lead Veridos with circumspection and stability towards the future."
