Convenient and secure private 5G networks: G+D is part of the 5G Smart Venue at HANNOVER MESSE 2022

20/05/2022 Munich Giesecke+Devrient

Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) will be part of the 5G Smart Venue at HANNOVER MESSE from May 30 to June 2, 2022 in Hall 7, where it will showcase solutions that support the simple, fast and convenient deployment of 5G private networks.

The IoT (Internet of Things) is growing rapidly, driven largely by 5G adoption. This new technology enables a vast number of new use cases, for example in manufacturing or logistics. To unleash its full potential trusted connectivity and data are essential. 5G private networks contribute to this and provide great benefits, especially for enterprises. By enabling them to create an ecosystem with a private 5G network, alongside high bandwidth, high transmission speed and low latency enterprises also enjoy high data security as well as data protection.

At this year’s HANNOVER MESSE, G+D will be showcasing how companies can efficiently and reliably solve the connectivity and security challenges associated with 5G and IoT. G+D will present four tangible applications:

  • A simple, fast and fully digital way for eSIM-based devices to log into a private or public network via QR code using G+D's eSIM management solution. Authorized persons or devices can access the network in a user-friendly manner by scanning a QR code. This application can be used in multiple scenarios: At HANNOVER MESSE, VITES GmbH and G+D showcase a jointly developed solution that enables the use of broadband communication services in event of a disaster or crisis. To get access to the network users simply need to scan a QR code, too.
  • An IoT asset tracking and tracing application. This solution tracks valuable goods throughout the supply chain and combines G+D's intelligent middleware with low-power connectivity technology to maximize battery life of the tracker, making it an ideal sustainable solution for the logistics and manufacturing industries.
  • Together with the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUK), G+D will demonstrate a use case showing how a robot switches between the Standalone 5G (SA) Siemens network at Deutsche Messe and the public 5G network. The solution scenario is based on G+D's eSIM management, independent of the networks and can be used by all kinds of devices. It underlines how devices can seamlessly move between public and private networks. More information is available at the TUK demo area in Hall 9, Booth D51.
  • A management solution for global networking and securing of IoT applications and devices. IoT Suite gives IoT businesses complete control over their connectivity. This is one of the scalable connectivity applications of Enterprise Network Operator Pod Group, which G+D acquired mid-2021.

"The provision of secure and stable connectivity solutions for the implementation of 5G-based business models is one of G+D's strategic core business areas. Secure and innovative device management and SIM or eSIM management play an important role here," explains David Weinberg, Director Business Transformation in the Connectivity Business at G+D. "We are very pleased to have the opportunity to present tangible use cases to such a large audience at HANNOVER MESSE."

G+D will also be represented with its own keynote in the supporting program of the trade fair. Sharath Muddaiah, Director Strategic Solutions & IoT at G+D, will speak on the topic “Secure Connectivity Management is key to enabling your Private Network”. The keynote will take place on June 1 on the Tech Transfer Conference Stage in Hall 2, starting from 1:30 p.m.

This is in addition to G+D being a Platinum Partner for the 5G Smart Venue project since mid-2021. The exhibition center will be further developed into an innovative multifunctional campus with G+D contributing its security and authentication solutions.
